Finishing up with the last of the Acuras last night, I summed it up as follows:

For our money it’s an incredibly strong lineup of modern classics from a brand that has always had a small portfolio. The NSX and Integra Type R in particular are two of the most influential, impactful cars from the 1990s that you’ll find in our entire list. It’s unfortunate that Acura’s current lineup bears almost no resemblance to any of the cars we’ve covered; they’re almost irrelevant in today’s marketplace.

Our editor’s pick for Acura in Vol. 1 is without question the Integra Type R, though we’re not exactly going out on a limb. The Type R is having its day in the sun with the automotive media, and it’s reflected in the recent price trends. Find a nice car that blurs the line between driver and garage queen and you’re likely to look awfully clever in 5 years.

Today’s post? The venerable CRX Si, a quick little jump over to Acura’s corporate parent Honda for our next brand.

I’ve had two, the first one, a 1985 that I bought in ‘90, and then a ‘90 that I bought a few years later. I loved both of those, the ‘85 got totaled (rearended) and the 90, I just moved on from.

The early 90s sure were  a golden era for Honda/Acura, especially in my household. At one point, a 1990 CRX, 1992 Prelude, 1992 Integra 4 door manual which got totaled and replaced with a Vigor, and a 1990 Accord. All except the CRX were bought new.

Looking at the combined Acura/Honda list in my spreadsheet is really disappointing when I compare it to the current lineup.

The CRX Si is the perfect car if you like filling out police reports for having your car stolen...

I had to hold my tongue when doing my writeups for both the CRX Si and the Integra, but I got a few shots in at each of them for this very issue.

Where on earth can you find a CRX for 2k?  Even clapped out, rusted to hell examples are at least 4k by me.

I loved my 88 Si. Bought it in 2000 and drove it for a couple of years. Incredibly fun, cheap to own and drive and a surprising amount of space for such a tiny thing. Haven’t seen one on the road in years.
